Booklets
& Brochures
My Role
Graphic Designer
As a graphic designer I've created all manner of publications, brochures, flyers, booklets and reports. Below are a couple of examples.
Modern Revivals Booklet
The first example is one of the many booklets that I made to accompany exhibitions at The Dowse Art Museum—sometimes this was to supplement wall-mounted graphics, and other times replaced them.
This one was for the exhibition Modern Revivals, and contained a biography for each of the industrial designers in the show. This solved the problem of only having minimal wall space for all of the information. It also gave visitors something to take away, which could promote the show and raise the profile of the designers.
Dowse Season Brochure
The Dowse's original season brochure was trying to do too many things, so I was tasked with refining it.
Previously, it covered three months' worth of exhibitions and events, information like venue hire, membership and education, as well as folding out to become an A2 poster. Covering such a large time period meant that when a visitor picked one up, a lot of the listings would have already taken place, and since it had been written so long ago, some of the details may have changed and become inaccurate.
My solution was to make it smaller—a four-panel concertina DL—released more often and highlighting one exhibition at a time. This allowed more room for information about that show, alongside only the most relevant and current event listings.
