My Roles
Graphic Designer
In the nine years I spent at The Dowse Art Museum I designed brands for 150 exhibitions!
This was usually a logotype that was then applied to one or more gallery walls and the building wayfinding, as well as an assortment of advertising collateral. The brand's style was also sometimes carried through to one or more layers of introduction text, wall labels and sometimes a publication.
The design had to be unique and engaging, but also—to a greater or lesser extent, depending on the particular subject matter—I needed to make sure that it wouldn't be more prominent than the artworks. Additionally, I had to keep in mind the balance between the show's branding with that of the institution, making sure that they worked together.
